Sculptural street-furniture elements
After doing a research on the 'Ontology of objects and visual language in public space' I decided to create a type of sculpture that finds its origin in street-furniture and architectural elements. The shape of these sculptures is based on different kinds of objects from public space, mixing various materials, functions and visual languages. Placed in public space these sculptures fit in as if they were blocking a passage for cars and provide routing at the same time. The positioning at a sidewalk made them quickly being used as seats and climbing elements. When I show them in a art context like a white-cube or my studio enviroment, they stand out so much as 'sculptures' that many people cannot believe they blend in in public space.
