Cebra Diapositiva
Roadmarking paint, concrete streetstones and Gallery walls.
Dimensions variable.
The Zebra crossing was created after an example found at the recently renovated Colombia AVE3 K1N road, one of the oldest roads in Cali next to the river. In an attempt to take the Zebra out of use, its white stripes were covered with black roadmarking paint. Instead of banning the Zebra to a certain non excistance, a new diverted Zebra appeared. The black paint with the gray concrete road formed an inverted image to the original. The floating Gallery walls were installed as a way to frame the floorpiece and seperate it from it's orignal surroundings placing it in a deliberate art context.
This work was conceived during an exchange project called Elopement between HMK {Hotel MariaKapel} and Lugar a Dudas at La Vitrina, Lugar a Dudas, Cali, Colombia, 2013
