Sculpture after an emergency exit at a gasstation along the A4 near Schiphol Amsterdam.
Using my photo archive, one picture came up very often: an emergency exit to escape over a small wall. I realized that just like collecting images of objects, I wanted to possess this object in 3-d. The eventual sculpture looks different than the original object, that still can be found in public space, because while making the object for my own 'collection' all kinds of questions rose concerning building, stacking, balance, storage and mobility. All questions very much related to an art object and not so much related to the original. Working with these questions, a much more sculptural version of the original came to be.
